Have a great (and safe) trip, Hil.
Great news, Susan.
Lilty, it's hard to say how much you'll spend, but it's pretty easy to economize on everything except housing. The "Let's Go" guides are pretty good for spotting less expensive options. What I usually do is eat a big breakfast if I'm staying in a bed and breakfast, and get lunch and sometimes dinner at grocery stores and bakeries. It's really very entertaining, since groceries are different. In England, for example, I was eating currant and hazelnut yogurt. In Prague and Munich, we happened onto Saturday farmers' markets and got prepared food and fruit.
You do know that the best way to "exchange" money is to just use the ATMs in Europe. It's so much simpler and the rate is almost always as good or better than you can get at a bank.
Susan, what a huge relief. Yay!
Hil, travel safe and have a wonderous time!
SJ, chocolate covered strawberries, by chance? Drooooool...
That's terrific news, Susan!
Speaking of European travel, last night I dreamed I was in some German city with my coworkers. It was the middle of the day and for some reason none of the restaurants were open. My coworkers were freaking out. I went to a grocery store and bought a bunch of bread, wine, and nutella (no idea how easy nutella is to get in Germany in reality) and took the lot back to the hotel room. Whereupon my coworkers declared me a genius. Seriously. I could smell the bread.
Robin!!! I just read the review. Your boyfriend IS the World's Best!!!! It's just the nicest evah!!!!
So glad they FINALLY put it up! I have been itching to send it to you or post it here, but he had turned it in and I wasn't really allowed to. Hooray for talented Buffistas!!!
SJ, chocolate covered strawberries, by chance? Drooooool...
Chocolate covered strawberries, dried mangoes, and raisins.
I just spilled over my spice rack. There are spices and glass everywhere, and my food processor won't work. Having a minor freakout.
Just got back from lunch. Hurried lunch; dropped off contract and my time sheet.
Also, found out that the bar I had drinks at Friday after the new play opening charged 2 completely different checks to me -- neither of which was mine. And being a bar, they aren't open yet, and I had to leave a voice mail.
Should I just call my bank?
I finally got the food processor to work, so the cannellini bean dip is done. Sorry if I am boring everyone with the details.
Erin-- I'd call the bank and let them know the charges were in error and you are trying to get in touch with the bar.
