Spike's Bitches 24: I'm Very Seldom Naughty.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

"You see? THAT's what they want. Love, and a bit with a dog."

I know there are crafty Bitch types. I have a sassy dress to wear to a wedding in August, and I wanted to maybe crochet myself a shawl to go with it. But I've only crocheted with yarn before, largely hats and scarves. Would something with a lighter thread (particularly something so big) be too difficult/impossible/etc.?

Not at all--there are some good rayon/rayon blends that will work up quickly on a big hook w/o being overly heavy. Try Patternworks.

Ann, that's a ferret.

and the majority of people living in areas effected the worse weren't prepared, thought they could get out of dodge within thirty minutes, and generally didn't think they'd be hit by a hurricane.

Ah, our first trip to the Outer Banks. Mandatory evacuation because of Hurricane Felix. Took 2 hours to drive from Nags Head to Manteo -- a distance of about 5 miles.

Thrive to spite them

Fred -- that's exactly the problem. And then you have people in South Florida trying to evacuate and they all cram into the interstates and it takes forever.

Last year for one of thehurricanes my great uncle (who really shouldn't be driving the distances he does AT ALL) didn't want to evacuate from teh beach. Thank god they did because the road from their house to the main road flooded and was impassalbe.
