Aren't they something. They're like butterflies, or little pieces of wrapping paper blowing around.

Spike's Bitches 24: I'm Very Seldom Naughty.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

{{Cindy}} Sorry it's been such a sucky day.

Erin, yay! and Boo! all at the same time. More yay than boo though.

I'm assuming this is hork in the sense of snatch (yoink!) and not cough up like a loogie, right?

Yes, you assume correctly. According to Urban Dictionary:

v. to steal something, though not usually applicable to shoplifting or grand theft.

Yes, I'm going to be an English teacher. And, I love slang.

So how do I tell the difference?

Remember that if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. If a job sounds like a ridiculous amount of money for not very much work, or if an employer is (as you described) falling at your feet for, basically, speaking in complete sentences, that falls into the category of "too good to be true." In cultspeak, the over-complimenting is known as "love bombing," and it's a common recruiting tool.

I was kind of bummed out when I found out about Maryland PIRG, because it does *sound* really good. And I'm sure they do good things. But the door-to-door stuff isn't one of them.

Oh, and also:

What makes PRIG even worse is that there are people who want to work to make a difference (Exactly the kind of job I'm trying to get) and so they're not only preying on the need for a job, but people's consciences too.

This reminds me, Heather, to ask if you've looked at idealist.org. I found my new! job there, and it seems to be a great resource, though I'm not sure how much they'll have for Louisiana.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Back in the dim, distant past, when PIRG was just getting started ... yup, they were pretty much the same, although without the promises of making money. PRIG is a good description of the mindset back then ... and it sounds like they haven't changed that much.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Hm. Maybe I won't even waste my Thursday on them.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

I suppose because I was envious because we have nothing like Reel Moms here and the idea of successfully taking Ellie out on my own sounds so appealing and yet really far away.

Lowes needs to bring it to you! They have it in a lot of cities, with plans for more, but I somehow doubt you feel like driving to DC just for a movie, and I think that's what's closest to you.

In theory, I'll make it next week when they are bound to be showing Batman Begins. Barring hell and high water, of course.

Of course, in two months, I've managed to take the baby out for something other than appointments or picking up dad exactly, umm... never.

This is cute yet twisted, which means I love it! [link]

Monsters, Cindy.

GC, that is very twisted and creepy. I watched all of it.

Yeah, it's freaky-deaky. The sound effects are spooky.
