I couldn't believe it the first twenty times you told us, but it's starting to sink in now.

Spike's Bitches 24: I'm Very Seldom Naughty.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Yippee for Soon to be Big Brother Owen!

Are Buffistas hiding their ugly babies?

I am convinced that if a Buffista had a baby that was ugly, said baby would be just hiding all the spectacular good looks for adult-hood, when baby would become so beautiful we would all die.

Perkins, aren't you on vacation?

ETA: Lyra, that just proves they're a bunch a creeps. I'm glad you're outta there! (But sorry you don't have work.)

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Right now, I'm looking for just about anything science-y or writer-y to fund me while I look/wait for a medical science liaison position to open up in an area yet to be determined. Lab work, medical writing, editing, whatever. I'm in Ann Arbor, but I know I can do this sort of thing remotely, the writing/editing part, you know? I came across a listing of a pharm company in New Jersey that has a backlog of papers they need edited and figures made for so they can get them published, but all I have is the address and no other contact information. The local newspaper doesn't take freelance science writers; I'm going to call up the Detroit Free Press next. I have a feeling that rather than find an actual job, I may be able to make do for a while finding lots of profitable small gigs. If only I could find them.

Meanwhile, I keep getting e-mails from random insurance companies who believe I am an "excellent candidate" for selling insurance.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Perkins, aren't you on vacation?

Depends on how you define vacation.

Thrive to spite them

This is just bizarre -- I typed in yahoo.com, went to google and searched for yahoo and clicked on that link and it's an ad for GoDaddy.com saying the address (or site or something) is parked and ready to buy.

Not that I should be either.

Up with the sun

all I have is the address and no other contact information.

This is probably a dumb question, but have you checked with 411 or Switchboard.com? I've managed to get phone numbers from addresses a couple of times.

Good luck with your job search. There doesn't seem to be much in Michigan on journalismjobs.com, but it might be worth your time to check that and mediabistro.com. I have no idea how to get a science-y job.

(Also, in mememe news, I got a call for a second interview with a place where I think I'd be pretty happy that would pay me a bunch more money, so it's possible that life does go on.)

I haven't! I'll try that.

Yay!

P-C, you might also be able to get the number just by doing a straight Google on the addy, if Switchboard doesn't work.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I had a second audition/interview at Princeton Review last night. I think it went pretty well -- at least, I feel like I did better than I did the first time, and the first one was good enough that they called me for a second one.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Omigod, P-C, you are having my job hunt. Except that we have different actual jobs we'd like, the experience is identical.

I'm a little tempted by First Investors because the office is 3 blocks from my house. But that's no reason to take a job. I do think I'm gonna have to cave and be a financial advisor for a while. Or something.

Mostly lurking...

Oh, Lyra, that is just WRONG. I am so sorry. Good luck on the second interview, though.

So, my boss has finally figured out my quick working pace. I think I have about a week's worth of work to do today. I'm taking it on as a challenge to see how much I can complete today.
