VW! Mwah back, bebe!
I'm sipping an iced coffee as we type. The grading in my bag is staring at me, though. Make it stop.

STOP IT, you evil grading!
Glad you've got coffee. I think I need to fix that for me, though.
I agree, coffee needs to be in your immediate future.
I don't wanna grade. I think I'll work on writing my exams instead. Fun.
That does sound like fun, actually.
I'm gonna make coffee. Then I'm gonna come back and tell you about the compliments I got yesterday at work.
I'm sleepy too.
Really? I'm feeling pretty good.
BILLYTEA! Hi sweetie!
Hey, do you have an LJ account? You really should register, even if you don't plan on posting, so I can friend you. I'm barely online anywhere else lately.
VW, I am now very excited to hear ALL ABOUT your work compliments. Tell, tell!
billytea! I bet you've had cofee already...you're hours ahead of us!
Ok...so yesterday...it was kind of a rough day starting out, and I really didn't want to go to work, but I forced myself to get there. I got even more frustrated when there wasn't work for me to actually work on when I got there. But, I found some stuff to do, and by the time my boss got out of her meeting, I was busy as a bee, and she was all impressed that I had taken the initiative to start on this particular project to get it done.
So, she (my boss, D) had been meeting with her boss, the director of the school. They are looking for a replacement for D, because she is moving to Springfield and going back to school for her PhD. She's been at the school for five years, and it's gonna be really difficult for her to leave. She does so many things. She's the main administrative assistant for the school, but she also does some direct care. They're having a difficult time finding someone to replace her, and both she and the director are being really picky. Evidently D talked to someone on the phone yesterday that may be a possibility, but she's not sure. Anyway, I guess they spent a chunk of their meeting talking about whether or not they should try to convince me to take her position. They really want me to. D was so cute. She's being really protective of me with the director, and told the director not to push me into something that I'm not looking for right now...that school is that important, and I should focus on that for now, and they can use my talents in other ways. But, then she told me that she really would love it if I was available to take the position. They've been so pleased with my initiative and the work I've done.
Anyway, it made me feel really good on two levels...one, they want me to take this higher-level position...one that really requires a bachelor's degree, but they'd wave that for me, because they like me so well. Two, they respect my want to stay in school, and they're not going to push me into this. It made me feel really good.
Then later, while I was supervising the kids, the director came down to check on something. She ran into me and just went on and on about how much she loved the labels I made for the mailing we're sending out (you may remember I was struggling with the stupid things). D joked that I one-upped her, which wasn't fair since I'm so new. But, the director was really pleased, and that felt nice.
Yay VW! I'm so glad they see what a treasure you are.

No, no, I don't drink coffee. Coke, OTOH, features on days like these.
That all sounds really awesome, vw. They sound very impressed with you.

Ah...makes total sense. Coke away, then!
It was nice for the self esteem. And they picked the right day for it. Also, I got my first paycheck! Yay!
