Well, I'm not wishing mutilation on the thieves, but I'm
terribly
sorry that this has happened to you, Betsy. Damn. What a horrible feeling. Still, thank goodness that you found one of the missing items, and thanks be to God nobody was hurt. Really, this is the kind of burglary you want to have, in a twisted way - I remember my family being robbed once, and we'd just bought a new video (finances were and had been really tight for a couple of years, so this was a very exciting new extravagance)
and
my Mum had actually, for pretty much the only time before or since, left
all the takings from her flower shop
on the kitchen table. She'd just been so damned knackered that she decided to sort it out in the morning. And although it was horrible to realise that someone had broken in and stolen the money and the video and so on, it was a tremendous relief to think that they hadn't come upstairs and hurt anyone - they'd just come in, grabbed stuff and gone.
Kind of a shitty silver lining, I know, but at least it's just stuff, and you're all safe.
{{{Betsy}}} My ex the police detective always told people to check out pawnshops themselves. The police don't have time. He caught several burglars because of victims who scoured local pawnshops for their stuff. Sometimes they called pawnshops with a description of the more distinctive items and sometimes they distributed flyers.
{{{Lilty}}} I'm sorry about your cousin.
Fay, I've also woken up in the morning to find that theives had been in the house while we slept (they stole my roommate's car keys and took his car).
I found it very unsettling that they could have easily coomein while we slept and done something horrible.

Thanks for all the ~ma and hugs. I haven't heard from my mom yet, but we got the call at a family dinner (scaled back from a Memorial Day BBQ, under the circumstances). His parents and brother had taken a shift off from the hospital to come and grab a bite, since they thought it would be days still, and they got back to the hospital just after he went. As sad as it was, watching how fast that room cleared out to join them at the hospital, especially with everyone still smarting from my grandmother, was heartening. Crude and silly as they may be, they pull together when needed like no one else.
Steph and Juliana, insent.
Steph, P.S. You suck.
I somehow just managed to burn my boobs by dropping a hot piece of teryaki steak down my shirt.
On that note, I go to work.
{{Lilty}}, {{Betsy}} Lots of ~ma to you both. I'm sorry such nasty stuff is happening in your lives, may it all get nicer, soon.

I've had discussions with a few Buffistas about weird ways we've injured ourselves.
I think Lilty may have just put us all to shame.
Now Perkins, don't forget Ginger and Hil. The unlikelyhood of Lilty's injury is impressive, but Ginger and Hil consistently display an expert level of artistry. I will grant that Lilty and Betsy (cf shoulder injuring - danish losing - pratfall in the rain) do show promise.
It would be silly for me to see if this: [link] is still available, wouldn't it?
Not sure I need a giant stuffed Kangaroo doll.....
