"Which creature would you most like to club until it yields its prize?"

Glorious.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

This one is much more introspective than the Party fic, but I loved Steve getting to use new technology in an artistic way. Kind of. [link]

Argh, I foolishly signed up to pinch-hit for a ficathon which has just started posting, and I haven't gotten more than 900 words into my story and it's due Saturday and I just spent 4 days in Colorado in constant company with family and tomorrow I'm flying to LA for two days of site visits and meetings. WTF was I thinking?

Argh.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

You can write on the plane!

Yeah, exept it's only a 75-minute ride. Still, I can write in the airport too. Argh.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

"This may be the worst idea I've ever had," Bruce said, watching them walk away. "And I've blasted myself with gamma radiation."

Love it.

I don't even know where to put this: it's the Neville Longbottom vid I never knew I wanted.

So fabulous.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

IO9 has a pretty...well, it's long, I'll say that. I kinda skimmed...article on the legality of fanworks: [link] . It seems to basically come down to "fair use?" "not impinging on profits?"

Commenters include an author of tie in books who comments on evert fan fic article to tell us he writes SPN tie in novels (I've never heard anything good about any of them), a snark against Cassandra Claire (which I might have nudged along), and someone from the inside of the HP Lexicon brouhaha.

And, of course, the requisite "if you're so good, why don't you write real books, huh?" and "all fanfic writers should die" comments.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

Consuela, that vid was awesome, and I haven't even seen the last two movies. Just my memories of how easily Neville could have been the hero of the story, and my love for his steadfast underdoggedness (I think I began resenting Harry at one point). Wrong thread, but I always wondered if JKR meant for the parallels to be so strong, for there to be someone who could have been Harry/for Harry to not be so special or unique, or if Neville was accidentally awesome and left-field.
