The original penguin story was a PegB story. Actually, it started with the Tarsiers story, and then there was the penguin story. Then someone else rewrote the penguin story as a straight SGA story. Ask me not why, I have no idea.

PegBaal rocks like a rocking thing, although it takes a while to get moving. Tafkar really needs to put it up on her website. However I think you'll like the characterizations in it: Jack's all Jack, Shep's pretty tough, Rodney's all smart and shit. I wasn't much into Daniel in it, but then I don't find Daniel in PegB all that compelling anyway.

Raqs has a kickass adventure that she posted in late January, the name of which escapes me. And Danvers has some good stuff, too, IIRC. And of course Salieri.

As for the gayness issue, oy. t hides head Please note my one contribution to PegB was a parody on just that issue. Oh, and I invented Airman Teresa Jones, who's popped up in about six different stories by other people now.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Oh, I loved your wee Elizabeth piece, 'Suela - it was very apropos. And I'm trying to remember which story it was that had someone positing that the reason everyone was gay as Christmas was to do with the Bush administration trying to send all the homosexuals to another galaxy, 'cause that made me laugh out loud too.

It's fascinating, this PegB. McKay seems to be very much the McKay that I've become familiar with from fanon (lacking canon at present), and John reasonably so too. Jack and Daniel, though - Jack's pretty much Jack, but Daniel is sometimes being characterised as too damned girly and slight for me to quite swallow it. I mean, maybe my perspective on Season 1 Daniel is too coloured by how frakking solid Michael Shanks is right now, but I don't think he was ever a waiflike, pouty wee slip of a thing. He was just a fit bloke in glasses, acting geeky. But not a fragile, delicate, softly-spoken wee china doll of a thing. He's a bloke - an intellectual bloke, yes, but definitely still a bloke. Mostly the writers in PegB are giving us that, but there's a bit of a trend, sometimes.

(Then again, I suppose that's just slash for you, isn't it? Sometimes the blokes are girlier than a Barbie Doll in a field of daisies and gamboling kittens. If this is the price we must pay for having teh hot gay sex, then so be it...)

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

This would be the time to point out that I haven't actually read any of PegasusB, wouldn't it?

I'm still knee-deep in the stories from the Sentinel ficathon. New Sentinel slash! It's crazy!

But not a fragile, delicate, softly-spoken wee china doll of a thing.

Yeah. He didn't go to Abydos, and his career crashed and burned, but I can't imagine he'd be fragile. Just a little naive about the nastiness of the rest of the universe.

Frankly, I'd see him as a ...hell, plot-bunny. I'd see him as a scruffy shovel-bum, signing on to digs all over the world, still trying to find evidence to support his theories, living out of a backpack and looking entirely edible in worn jeans and leather jacket.

Shit.

you! Stop laughing! It's not funny!

Also, it would mean rewriting the PegB Pilot, which I so can't do. And I was more interested in the FemmePegB that some folks had going, with Sam instead of Jack, and Jacob, and all that...

Damn.

Clearly, it'll have to just be your own big AU.

Hey, Dana, there's a misattributed story in the update of the recs. Should I tell you, or do you not have time just now and I should remember it for later?
