I did enjoy seeing the outsiders' perspectives on the new Atlantis, and the idea of the legends of Atlantis becoming unreadable to an Earth reader's perspective was clever. I'm too much a plot whore, though, to be content with third-hand, legendary retellings, I like to be down in the trenches of "whath appens next?"
I don't think this approach has been done before, so that might explain some of the great reception the story has had. I'm surprised there haven't been copycats.

Actually, I used a very similar structure on a story I posted last summer; of course, it was gen, for a remix challenge, and received nothing near that kind of rapturous reception. ::wry grin::
Oh, I really enjoyed
Written By The Victors
enormously. But that's true of a hell of a lot of fanfic, and I don't mind other people NOT loving it in the slightest, and I can certainly see the point about thinking "...hang on, what?" about the ending. (Actually, I'd assumed that was just me failing to understand the story, despite having read it once and heard it several times [it's a very good podfic]. Relieved to hear that it ISN'T just me being blonde after all. Good good.) You make excellent points about the flaws in the POV, though.

I've discovered what I don't like about fanfic.
I get hooked on a story and then the silly author won't quit her job and ignore her family to keep the chapters coming at a pace quick enough for me.
Silly good authors.
My sympathies, Aims (and the reason I keep a strict policy of only reading finished stories)

Darn the man. Donations are accepted at my profile addy. If my state had a lottery, I'd be playing that, just in case.
I am ruined. Ruined, I tell you.
I can not read anymore Harry/Ginny.
It's just wrong.
Harry belongs to Draco and it shall always be thus.
And from the canon side of HP fandom, may I just say, "ew"?
That's another thing to love about fic--whatever your poison, or pleasure, you're almost certain to find it.
Awww come on. My OTP is Harry/Squid.
Or not...but hey, it is probably someone's OTP.

It's amazing what OTPs exist in HP fandom.
