This thread is for fanfic recs, links, and discussion, but not for actual posting of fanfic.

Sweet Charity ends tomorrow! There's still plenty of time to bid (or, if you're Vonnie, accidentally bid) on people!
My LilyII PetuniaII HP fic got approved by the Council over at Checkmated and is awaiting a beta.
I'm all sorts of giggly.
I've been reminded that I never remember to mention here if I wrote a thing. I wrote a thing: [link]
Which is all well and good, but it has me itching to discuss slash and gen, and when you decide to go for the latter when the former would do. (In this case, when the fandom was sadly lacking in the former such as I would read, and the latter, while also fun, did not scratch the story writer itch.)
Also desiring to discuss: writerly self-indulgence, okay in small doses?
How soon is too soon to resend edits back to your beta? She sent me comments that I got this morning and I worked on them (being the slacker that I am) and I think I took care of everything she mentioned, but I worry that it's too soon.
Also, do I send it back without the comments?
I such a N00b.
Audiofic! I'm terribly impressed that it exists! And can be downloaded onto my iPod! Good job universe! In honour of which I downloaded some free software last night and started recording stories, because I really love reading stories out loud, as, er, you may have gathered from the last F2F I attended. Er. Anyway, yes - SO delighted by this turn of events!
I think I may ask AJ Hall how she'd feel about having Lust Over Pendle recorded on audio. I mean, she might well not be comfortable with that, but I think I may have to ask, because - LOVE!!!
Aimee, every beta-relationship is different.
For myself, if I got beta-comments back from someone, and I made all those changes, I probably wouldn't send it back again, or if I did, it would be with apologies and a request to look for something in particular (like typos, or a rewrite of one problematic scene), rather than ask them to look at the entire story again.
Beta is work, and it behooves us to treat our betas nicely so they will continue helping us.
Which I'm sure you know, but it's worth saying anyway.

Fay! You will share those recorded stories with us, right? Because I would *love* to be able to listen to you reading me fic while I'm stuck on the bus.
Aimee, how long is your story?
If it's short, I wouldn't bother sending it back once you'd made the changes. I only get into severe beta feedback looping on longer stuff, and I'm trying to break myself of that habit, because lord, I could wind up in an endless test pass otherwise.
