S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

Hey, I'm going to keep an eye out for those Kirstein books. they look really interesting.

Unrelatedly, *man* have I been reading some great fic this weekend.

So there's this Farscape futurefic story, The Next Frelling Generation, which was a fantastic look at what D'Argo Sun-Crichton, and the world after the Treaty, might be long. It was fantastic, really engaging and well-done. At the time, I though there was all that there was, but I went back looking for it to send to a friend and it turns out that the author has written basically a whole season of adventures for the characters he introduced in TNFG.

It's a really ambitious project, but I've been reading the stories on and off all weekend, and they're all quite good. David Hearne has the tone of Farscape down, while deepening the original characters he created, and giving a really compelling arc-y narrative for them to follow. I am *really* impressed. This is something that will take some time to read, but if you're a Farsccape fan, I definitely think that it's worth your time. Each story is basically an episode, and they're all of a very high writing quality, which is surprising, frankly, but a really pleasant surprise. The original characters are engaging, and interesting, with their own depth and agendas.

Frankly, if this were an canon-related project, I don't think I could be more impressed than I am already. It fits seamlessly into the world as we know it. Really, really reccomended.

David Hearne--he's so sneaky, because he doesn't put any of his fic on his LJ, and so I never know he's been doing this. Hmmm. (

ETA: Although it looks like a bunch of these were posted over a year ago, and I just never noticed.

SA, thanks for the heads up. I remember seeing a rec for Frelling Generation just about the time Leviathan went kerblooey, and I never went back to track it down.

no problem! I kind of want to email him and offer him webspace just to put this stuff up in one locale.

I just started the second season of TNFG and man, the writing quality just doesn't drop at all. A fantastic, long, engaging read.

You know he wrote some amazing epics in XF, too, right? You might be able to find them on Gossamer.

No, I didn't! I never got around to reading the big awesome fics in XF; it's one of those things I always meant to do. I'll remember that for later.

vanguard of the socialist Hollywood liberal homosexualist agenda

For those who follow these sorts of things, Big_Pink has a new chapter of Fire in the Hole up. (And may I say, HMOFG.)

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

It was funny, reading the comments, how many people wanted to whump John, where my first and strongest desire was Feed John Soup.

I wonder (as I've wondered in AtS fandom before) if part of it's the parent/non-parent split, because I felt the chapter captured and magnified some core parent stresses and emotions, and it made me just ache for John.

Curse you, wee Suela! If I don't get this writing written, I blame you, because that means I've given in to temptation and started READING.
