We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Dean's reaction to wings is just endlessly more entertaining to imagine than Sam's.

In general, Dean's reactions to weirdness are more entertaining than Sam's, because he's so much more aware of his own dignity (except when he's being a complete dork and doesn't recognize it, like when he made the T2 comment in "Night Shifter").

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

SA'd know, I bet.

I should ask her then.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Eighth-horizon's been writing some SPN wingfic. pt. 1, 2, and 3

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Actually, it might even have been in LOTR RPS; I don't read either so I coldn't say.

...er, yes there was.

::looks shifty::

Not that I read it. At all. Obviously. Er. Because I never read LotRiPS. No sir. Not me. Um.

Mostly wingfic as a subgenre makes me go ???? because it seems so bloody random a thing. Or at least - well, no, I dare say everyone has had dreams of flying, because flying sounds cool...but then there are other equally cool things, you know? By that logic there should by rights be an equal volume of wake-up-invisible fanfic, for example. (If not wake-up-a-beetle fanfic.)

I've read a couple of stories in which characters grew wings - something in SGA, something in SPN, something in LoTRiPS, but that's about it. I mean, it's interesting enough as a cracktastic what if. But as a kink, it's slightly surprising to me. I suppose there's the whole wings-being-soft-and-touchable business? Or the whole sense of angelicness, and fallen angels, and all that? Or - actually, this is silly of me, isn't it? No fathoming the twists and turns fannish kinks will take. (Big Gay Penguins, for example.)

Ah, fandom. How I love thee.

...meanwhile, I am now quite tempted to write beakfic myself. Just because. Or maybe chickenfeet fic.

Heh.

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

SA'd know, I bet.

Is it this? [link]

or this [link]

or possibly this [link]

but I have a strong bet that it's this [link]

though it might very well be this [link]

as I recall this one was kind of funny [link]

and this is getting embarrassing, so I'm going to stop.

There's one particular nsync story (of the many, many good ones that are out there) that still sticks with me, because it was futuristic cyberpunk noir wingfic and really quite moving and beautiful. I'll have to go back and find it when I'm at my computer.

Don't you just?

The scenario was that it was the future and there was an underground group of young people who competed in fast-flying competitions, getting wings surgically implanted on their frames. Lance was a detective hired to find a missing man, who turns out to be JC (or maybe Justin; fandom writes them similarly a lot of the time and I can get them confused), competing in the competing. It of course developed into sex. and slash. And Lance got sucked into the world of the competitors. Great story.

SA,

a) bouncebouncebounce -- thanks for the links.

b) The one Plei mentioned was killer SPN RPS Wingfic-- do you know where that might be?

(I said I had wingfic issues already, didn't I?)

Oh! SPN RPS. Hmm. Let me nose around.
