Every planet has its own weird customs. About a year before we met, I spent six weeks on a moon where the principal form of recreation was juggling geese. My hand to God. Baby geese. Goslings. They were juggled.

Oh! Yeah! I've been meaning to read that Scrubs Wingfic!

And I agree with Suela: there is, in fact, good wingfic in SPN. Weird, but true. there was some killer SPN RPS wingfic, too, if you go in for that sort of thing, which I usually don't, but it was pretty killer.

All the other wingfic in SPN give the wings to Dean, I'm not sure why. Maybe because he doesn't have the magical visions of doom and the angsty destiny.

I think it's partly that. I know for me as a reader, Dean's reaction to wings is just endlessly more entertaining to imagine than Sam's.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

HA.
I knew I'd found it somewhere on one of your sites and hoped you'd have to cough it up.

Thank you! Radioactive chicken, away!

eta what Conjunction Junction taught me.

I'm trying to remember if it was flocked! It's one of the first things I read in the fandom. Hmm.

SA'd know, I bet.

In general, Dean's reactions to weirdness are more entertaining than Sam's, because he's so much more aware of his own dignity (except when he's being a complete dork and doesn't recognize it, like when he made the T2 comment in "Night Shifter").

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Actually, it might even have been in LOTR RPS; I don't read either so I coldn't say.

...er, yes there was.

::looks shifty::

Not that I read it. At all. Obviously. Er. Because I never read LotRiPS. No sir. Not me. Um.

Mostly wingfic as a subgenre makes me go ???? because it seems so bloody random a thing. Or at least - well, no, I dare say everyone has had dreams of flying, because flying sounds cool...but then there are other equally cool things, you know? By that logic there should by rights be an equal volume of wake-up-invisible fanfic, for example. (If not wake-up-a-beetle fanfic.)

I've read a couple of stories in which characters grew wings - something in SGA, something in SPN, something in LoTRiPS, but that's about it. I mean, it's interesting enough as a cracktastic what if. But as a kink, it's slightly surprising to me. I suppose there's the whole wings-being-soft-and-touchable business? Or the whole sense of angelicness, and fallen angels, and all that? Or - actually, this is silly of me, isn't it? No fathoming the twists and turns fannish kinks will take. (Big Gay Penguins, for example.)

Ah, fandom. How I love thee.

...meanwhile, I am now quite tempted to write beakfic myself. Just because. Or maybe chickenfeet fic.

Heh.
