Fan Fiction II: Great story! Where's the sequel?
This thread is for fanfic recs, links, and discussion, but not for actual posting of fanfic.
Yay, if you have time/inclination.
For those of you who may have been following my Career Change and Career Advancement series (wherein I start off by vamping Giles and going from there), I've finished the 2nd story in Career Advancement, Downsizing.
Ok, this is crazy, but I need to know of a high-profile sporting event during the "Chosen" era that was vaguely Sunnyhell-adjacent.
As requested, Em Brunson's SPN wee!Dean crackfic.
You ever read a crack story and you don't want to like it but the emotions are so perfect and before you know it you're on the edge of tears and can't stop reading? Yeah, like that. Dean is cursed and regressed to 7, and Sam has to deal. Perfect characterizations, and if you don't sniffle at least once, I don't know you.
Ah. man, now I want to go home and print it out NOW.

Damn. I'm not sure I even paused to breathe, and perfect timing for me reading it, because I've spent the last couple of days just obsessing (more than usual) about Dean as a semi-feral child, and... yeah. Man. That hit damn near every spot that needed hitting. Teared up a bit there in the middle. And the beginning. And the end.

Pretty much, yeah. I loved the way it all forced Sam to reconsider what it must have been like for John, dealing with two kids.

Oh, yeah. That was masterfully done, and so perfectly in character.
And yet John was still pretty much himself. I wouldn't call it a generous characterization, but it was believable.
I actually didn't really like the bit where Dean couldn't read; I had problems with that because I think John did a better job than most people in the fandom seem to think. They're all alive and basically sane, after all, and together--and you don't do that on that kind of lifestyle without some seriously good parenting skills.
