Well, (24), he did lose his job, which is pretty much the only thing that's ever mattered to him. I don't know. I think there is an ongoing logic-problem nestled somewhere in the middle of Jack Bauer. Basically, every year he saves the world in martyrophilic fashion, but he gets to do it on his own terms. A true martyr would go willingly to his death, or to a Chinese prison, because that was what the country needed of him. (After all, isn't he the one who executed Wossname last year, for this very reason??) Part of giving-all-for-your-country is taking orders, you know? Jack is so bad at that, I think he should run for President, just so that he can be the one who gives orders, instead of taking them.
