'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

The bleu in sacre bleu! might also refer to the so-called Marian Blue color that is associated with The Virgin You-Know-Who. FWIW, I've been told that merde is a relatively minor curse in French, they reserve the really strong ones for religious terms.

Timelies!

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Certainly in Quebec that's the case.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

So it's sort of the equivalent of HMOG.

I can't even.

stereotypical Fr. oath, 1869, from Fr. sacré bleu, lit. "holy blue," a euphemism for sacré Dieu (1768), "holy God."

This happens alot in colloquial French (Canada). The swearing centres around the religious, but then gets euphemised so that the actual words are used for serious swearing (or to avoid blaspheming?).

See: tabernouche for tabernaque, sans creme for sacrement, collin for calisse, etc.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Gosh darn it.

Sony’s Qrio robot attending nursery school in California

Sony’s Qrio, a humanoid robot, has been attending a Californian nursery school for the past three months where it plays with young children in a test designed to see if robots can “live in harmony with humans in the future.” The robot is accompanied to its classes by a researcher.

Qrio spends time each day with more than 10 toddlers at the nursery school located in San Diego. Qrio is always accompanied by a researcher, who is in charge of making sure everything goes smoothly. While the children were at first apprehensive about Qrio, they now dance with it and help it get up when it falls. “The children think of Qrio as a feeble younger brother,” researcher Fumihide Tanaka said. ‘

I can't believe we've got a freeze warning for tonight.

And then I'll have to have people over for snacks and sitting.

Allyson, this reminded me of a childrens' book Rabbit's New Rug. Now the main character is a little nutty at first (and that's not you) but he finally throws a party to celebrate his new rug. It's so cute.

I had an awesome weekend. Not long enough, as I woke up this morning and thought it was sunday.

The kinetic sculpture race was hilarious if very very wet. The dragon and the galloping cow sank. The platypus prevailed. Fifi the poodle was sodden. We did not fear the duck, however.

Coding and Sleeping

I finished stage three of the backyard spaceship this weekend. Now I'm getting ready to do the control panels and access panels. So, does anyone happen to know where to find decent sized images (at least 800x600, but bigger is better) that would look in place on a small spaceship display screen?
