[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

I don't know about your experience, but one of the reasons I'm okay with not having done it is because in my experience, being a woman in the military is a constant battle to prove yourself good enough, tough enough, and strong enough. I could never carry enough, walk as far, do as many push-ups, etc. as the guys I was with. It had nothing to do with my ability to do my job, but I got tired of always feeling inadequate before I'd even lifted a finger.

Heh. I'm pretty hard-headed, I stuck it out for 14 years. It wasn't the covert discrimination that drove me out (or even the overt), but the fact that they'd done some rearranging with the ratings and my chances of promotion to E-7 got shot to hell right at the time they were trying to reduce the force by 10%. When promotions had already been reduced by 33% because of the realignment, another 10% just was the ass-kicker. I decided it just wasn't worth it anymore. That, and I had dependents and orders to an active duty squadron in Hawaii. I just didn't think, as a single parent, it was going to do my career any good. There's even more discrimination against single parents than there is against women, and if you're both? Oy.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Brunch with the Zmayhems and Sparky1 was very very good and fun. After we ate, Sparky1 and JZ and I wandered around the Haight and coveted things in the stores there.

I even bought small silly presents for ita, the Miracleborns, and my friend G, just because I found stuff that needed to be with each of them.

I'm home now, and have cleaned up the cat puke that was waiting for me. I should unpack some, but I probably won't.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Bart Simpson:

That whole episode cracked me up. Plus I love Liam Neeson.

{{{vw}}} Sorry for the scare. Your neighbor is an idiot; you shouldn't worry about having called the police. It was the right thing to do.

Congratulations, DebetEsse!

Mostly lurking...

I had a lovely afternoon with my mom. We went to our favorite craft store's grand re-opening party. It was much fun. There were prizes (I won one), and everything was 20% off. Much fun was had. Then I did laundry.

Now, I'm ready to crash. Let's see if my body lets me.

Crap, laundry. I forgot. Tomorrow, I guess!

Glad you had a nice day, vw. Kinda needed it after last night, right?

Hi, sj! How's it going?

"You see? THAT's what they want. Love, and a bit with a dog."

I can barely see the screen through the blurry. Geez.

The bastards.

Also, in the event anyone is watching Desperate Housewives (and I hardly know why I am): I have just had the idea/really obvious revelation that Zach is going to be Mike's son. I can't believe I didn't think of it sooner.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Skippy McSkipperson

I missed the window to see erika tonight (hubby's plane trip was a clusterfuck).

No way to catch up. I'm on DH's laptop. I just succumbed to the siren call of a $3 Rice Krispy treat from the mini bar. He's going to be pissed.

Yeah, really. I think that if I would have stayed in the apartment today, I would have made myself crazy. So, instead I went out with mom, bought yarn, hung out with other crafty women, ate, and had an overall nice day. All is well.

Hi, sj! How's it going?

It's going ok. The nephew is doing very well. They gave him a small bottle the other day to be sure he would take it, and he threw such a fit that there wasn't more that they had to sedate him. He's a fighter.

I have been having insomnia at night and wanting to sleep all day. I haven't figured out how to not sleep and not disturb Teacup Guy's sleep.

How are things with you, Sail?
