Spike's Bitches 23: We've mastered the power of positive giving up.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Robson Green is MY boyfriend too! And I haven't seen this week's show yet to know what you refer to. It's kind of ruined Medium for me, because it's a bit like it, except for, you know, way better, and with a lead character who can act and all.

Robson Green was charm personified on The Kumars at 42.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Jilli, I and my twisty uterus thank you, darling. Sincerely. You're a sweetheart.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

The problem with porn being unrealistic, as opposed to car chases being unrealistic, is that there are other medium to "learn" to drive.

An acutal problem caused by porn is the bad sexual habits which result. But the anti-porn crew is too busy trying to keep kids virgins to worry about that.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Your high-horse doesn't get any taller when you quote things out of context, dear.

Honestly Trudy, there's no high horse involved in this porn discussion. For lo, I have taken a strongly opinionated stand about something which is obviously a matter of individual taste in the interests of humor. Much like calling somebody a Cilantro Crybaby.

But there are other ways to learn to have sex, outside of porn. Or am I not following?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I miss the days when BBC America was all-Robson all-the-time (Trust, Wire, Take Me) -- but my favourite is Me & Mrs Jones. Hey! In May, they're showing Second Sight with our other shared boyfriend.

Ann, that's a ferret.

Steph, I think it's that youth often get their first view of what sex is "really" like from porn. (I first saw a Playboy at 12 or 13, which means I can only imagine what today's Internet-capable pubescents can get access to.) And porn is so different from reality that it can skew expectations.

Maybe I just didn't consume enough porn, or I have an unrealistic sex life, but it was an easily correctable issue.

Movie love isn't like real life love either, is it? Not to mention apartment rentals and wardrobes.

Same here. I don't blame diappointing sex on the expectations generated by porn; I blame it on not enough practice/too much booze/too much ego.
