ION, I've lost my main umbrella, and left my backup umbrella at McDonalds. Today I discovered that the place where I've bought all my umbrellas for the last eight years is out of business. Whatever will I do?

In mememeland, there is a great need for an accountability monitor. You know, like that kid wearing the sash and demanding to see your hall pass in school?

As a person who keeps others on track for a living, I'm sort of sucking at it in my own life right now.

It's post-Inn closing and post-birthday delirium (it was really nice), so I have no more excuses for long naps and unproductive staring.

Plus, many of the things on my long-as-your-arm todo list are actually good for me...some even fun. Still? I'm making like a big, wet slug.

I'm asking for these for my birthday.

I feel all baffled by the way the world works -- I swear, the entire first half of my life I was surrounded by great girls and women who were mistreated or abandoned or just ignored by boys and men ranging from evil to clueless to too hopelessly wounded themselves to appreciate the gems they had found; and now in the second half I find myself surrounded by heroically good boys and men suffering from invisibility and neglect and underappreciation by people who ought to cherish them. Either way round, I don't like it, and it makes me ache for the wounded and want to shake the wounders (except that so many of them are walking wounded themselves; it never ends).

(((Gud))). I'm sorry, and feel free to talk your guts out whenever needed. Even if we can't help, we can certainly listen.

ChiKat, there were plenty of pictures, mostly on actual film that wants developing, but some digital ones by ND that apparently came out gorgeously. I think he's on the road now, but I'm sure he can be nudged into posting them when he comes to a rest stop (unless Kristin objects, which she shouldn't, 'cause SMOKING HOTT).
