I think that might be where the giants came in.

So you're saying that size really does matter.

I think that might be where the giants came in.

Well, they might be giants.

Librarian Warlord

Adam and Eve had 33 sons and 23 daughters

And now I have to go figure out just how many years Eve spent pregnant... (42! The Answer!)

Meanwhile, a good friend has handed in her notice to her Big Law Firm. There's one less corporate lawyer in the world, and one more happy woman.

My sister sent pictures of the new Boston Terrier puppy that will join her household in May, and I'm jealous. Now she has two dogs, and I have none. Pfft.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I think that might be where the giants came in.

Or else they had baseball much earlier than we thougth.

If I only had a brain...

Okay, here's the Straight Dope:

When men began to increase on earth and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw how beautiful the daughters of men were and took wives from among those that pleased them. The Lord said, "My breath shall not abide in man forever, since he too is flesh; let the days allowed him be one hundred and twenty years." The Nephilim were on the earth in those days and also after that, when the sons of God cohabited with the daughters of men, who bore them offspring. They were the heroes of old, the men of renown.

The key issue is how do you translate "Nephilim". The KJV makes it "There were giants in the earth in those days."

You know when you live to 800 or so, that isn't all that bad.

She might have had multiples.

(I know, of course, but I'm not telling)

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I wasn't raised with a literal interpretation of the bible. I don't know where I got the giant thing. I wish I could find some support for it. I'm gonna have to do some research. (eta: And Betsy comes through for me. I must've been thinking of Nephilim. Also, Boston Terriers are great dogs!)

The KJV of Genesis 6:1-4.

And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, that the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they [were] fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also [is] flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare [children] to them, the same [became] mighty men which [were] of old, men of renown.

[That's where you got the giants: the KJV.]

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

So big girls WERE hot then! HAH! Totally missed my era. Dude.
