Anne, backflung one more time :)

I can't throw away books either. I'm trying to get rid of some on half.com right now, but frankly, that's taking too long. I want this stuff out of the apartment NOW. So, I'm probably going to take them to a used bookstore soon...or maybe the hospital. We'll see.

Mmmmmm...poptarts. I wonder if I have any of those around here. That'd make a good breakfast.

Anyway, someone kick my ass so I'll get in the shower.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

We want to have a yard sale before moving.

This involves talking to my neighbors however.

Day 2 of Completely Miserable Headache. Also, we are Teh Dumb. We had it in our head that we had until the P&S till they'd cash the 1K check we gave with the offer. Howver, NSM, it shall be deposited upon acceptance of the offer, i.e., yesterday.

I mean, I don't think it'll bounce (god, what a bad thing that would be)- I believe our bank will cover it and be mad at us, worst case scenario, but, god, that's such a stupid move. It is Classic Nora all over.

Nora...NO BEATING YOURSELF UP. This is not "Classic Nora." This is maybe not the most effective thing you've ever done, but not the end of the world. You're first-time home buyers...there are gonna be mistakes and bumps in the road. It's gonna be ok.

Can you call the bank and warn them? Let them know that it was an honest mistake and you misunderstood? Maybe they can make a note in your account... They're a bank. They deal with first-time home buyers all the time.

Also, I'm so sorry about the headache. That is not fun.

What is even happening?

I need help from the hivemind. I might xpost this is Natter. I hope that's not a problem.

Through the ages, before great advances in science and the medical arts, how did people explain conception and pregnancy?

I'm figuring the cause and effect relationship to sex was virtually always understood. But is there somewhere I can find some (dumbed down) scholarship on primitive and/or ancient theories on what happened?

I seem to recall before it was known that the male contributed the sperm and the female contributed the egg, that one theory was that the male sort of planted a whole mini-baby, but can't--for the life of me--remember which society, or when.

Any information and/or links would be helpful, thanks. I don't need in-depth stuff, fwiw.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Today is Tom's turn to deal with stuff, he's handling this snafu - the transfer of funds, and calling the bank- as well as hiring us a real estate law...talking...guy. The two tasks are not related, BTW.

I am actively trying not to beat myself up- I just flash to a place where I was, praying for my paycheck to appear before everyone started depositing their payments from me. And when I do it out of absentmindedness, rather than lack of money, it's almost worse.

I'm trying to talk myself out of that though. This headache makes it so hard to think. Except for "ow."

What is even happening?

Nora, I've had a headache off and on since the weekend. I hope your poor head gets some rest. Everything will work out with the house and the money.

the transfer of funds, and calling the bank- as well as hiring us a real estate law...talking...guy. The two tasks are not related, BTW.
FWIW, we needed a lawyer for the sale of our house, and purchase of this one, because there were some out-of-the-ordinary circumstances involving both, and because we wanted to structure our P&S for this house, such that if the buyer of our old house backed out, we wouldn't be screwed for the 5% we were putting down with the P&S of this house.

Anyhow, we approached the lawyer we had to pay to work for the bank (for all the mortgage stuff) about working for us, as well. He was willing, and was reasonable--price-wise, because he was already involved in the transaction, anyhow.

Now tagless for your comfort.

It's after 8:30 and Owen's still asleep. This is unheard of. I've checked on him three times. He didn't even get up last night--just once this morning around 5--but he went right back to sleep. He then usually gets up by 7. Maybe he's going through a growth spurt.

I should probably shower while I have this time to myself.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I'm pretty sure I remember that as being ancient Greece. Possibly some other places, too.
