Wash: I didn't think you were one for rituals and such. Mal: I'm not, but it'll keep the others busy for a while. No reason to concern them with what's to be done.

What is even happening?

Layers, Emily. Layers. It's the New England way.

What is even happening?

"It turns out replica Civil War guns use real gunpowder, whereas 'Star Trek' phasers have only a battery-powered bulb that lights up," says Lessjo. "You don't go up against a guy with a firearm if all you've got is a flashlight."

Can't breathe. Laughing too hard. [link]

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Timelies!

Warning - this puzzle may drive you insane:

But speaking of the Video of the Day, today it's a simple animated gif. It takes a few seconds to move, so be patient. While you wait, count the number of figures, there should be 12. After it moves, count them again and there are 13. Where did the extra one come from?

I had to stare at the thing for a long time to figure it out....

An explanation: [link]

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

55 in Boston tomorrow? Hmm. Is that what the weather's supposed to be like there for the rest of the weekend?

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Nah, not really.

Maybe I shouldn't have tried to solve it at 3 in the morning....

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

That's really interesting, tommyrot.

I have had a computer miracle! As I was going to bed last night, my cat got caught in my computer cords, and pulled the whole shebang off the coffee table. So I went and looked, and my jump drive was all askew sticking out of the USB port. I pulled it out, it was fucked up. So I went to bed, figuring I'd deal with it in the morning. This morning, I just bent the USB part of the drive back into shape, plugged it back in, and all is well! PHEW.

Thrive to spite them

TX House votes to end gay foster parenting.

I saw that and now I'm worried this will impact Florida. Florida only allows hetrosexuals to adopt but anyone can be a foster parent. Even though there have been attempts to get this changed it hasn't happened. Now I'm worried that the Florida wingnuts will try and push for a similiar law here.
