Buffy: He ran away, right? Giles: Sort of, more. turned and swept out majestically, I suppose. Said I didn't concern him. Buffy: So a mythic triumph over a completely indifferent foe? Giles: Well, I'm not dead or unconscious, so I say bravo for me.

'Same Time, Same Place'

Buffista Movies 4: Straight to Video

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

The woman on the poster for Underworld: Evolution does not look like Beckinsale.

Maybe she's had more plastic surgery done?

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I think it's more a case of pale makeup, neon blue contacts, and extensive Photoshopping to remove every hint of a pore for the poster.

She's still more recognizably herself than Summer Glau was on those Serenity posters.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Summer was starting out with a individual face. Kate's been photoshopping herself bland in meatspace anyway. I mean, even knowing it's her, I can't see it. I could tell those pics were Summer. Bad Summer, but no one else.

Heh--the Chicago Tribune suggests 15 ways to save the Oscars (in addition to having Jon Stewart host). My favorite:

14. Let Jon Stewart protege Stephen Colbert interview stars on the red carpet, presenting them with an ego that is way bigger than even the most overpaid actor's.

Kate did it to herself. Kate did it to herself -- I'd not recognise that as her.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I think Pete put it nicely.

Now that I'm being all name-droppy I'll say he's a nice man and a good contra dancer.

I wish I could just go somewhere to get flensed but none of the whaling ships near me take Medicare.

Oh god, I love the idea that he contra dances. Do you contra as well, Trudy? I used to, but stopped doing it because I was having too much trouble with getting left on the sidelines...
