Nutty -- does that mean you missed the parts that involved JRM? Or somehow you screened out all the soccer surrounding him?

Well, I don't especially like JRM, but what I saw of the movie was an illicit trip to Germany (dressing up, dancing) and then some reaming by parents (upon return, or not, I don't remember). Also, some hanging out in bedroom with toothpick-narrow girl, talking about boys.

Somehow I think this movie is not about soccer the way The Natural is about baseball. (Not that we all need that much Malamuddish heavyhandedness in our lives.)

Believe it or not, I'm thinking of a different Buddhist-monks-playing-soccer movie. I think. Shaolin Soccer appears to be in theaters now, and I was tempted to rent the other one 3-5 years ago. Aha, it was The Cup

The Natural is about baseball.

I am still convinced that The Natural is about selling your soul to the devil, just the scenes explaining that somehow got edited out.

I think it's a biography of Satchel Paige, except they cast him as white. Plus hoodoo.

What sporty movies have I seen? Besides, like, the original MASH, which I am not sure it really counts.
