Buffista Movies 4: Straight to Video
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
I can see Cass, I don't know Arrowette and Spider-Woman, and Summer, really? How do you figure? (I only saw four or five episodes the first season, but I've seen the second.)
I guess you could say "Normal Again" Buffy is a woobie (the one in the mental institution, not the one trying to kill her friends).
Aeryn. Is Not. A Woobie.
Awww, c'mon. Not even a little bit? At least as much as Lex or Sawyer.
I think the GG Logan has serious woobie potential too.
I read some Logan/Logan GG/VM crossover fic once. It was funny. And pretty good, too, though it may have been the concept that sold me.
I think Spike is probably the biggest woobie of them all. Wes has moments, I think. I don't think you can woobify a girl; it seems to be a term that applies to guys solely.
Lots of people write Snape as a woobie. I'm not sure I believe it.
Morpheus has the emotionally-crippled-and-needs-a-hug-and-a-bowl-of-soup thing down cold, but when I think "woobie," I think of someone who needs protecting from the harsh uncaring world, not from his own choices.

No. No woobieness for Aeryn! Aeryn does not need a cuddle! Aeryn needs to shoot things.
But you can feel bad for her womanly man-pain if you'd like.
Can I be Aeryn's woobie? I need a cuddle form a hot chick that shoots things.

You just haven't read enough Batgirl, I swear. The poor dear has so much pain, but is so hard.
I can't imagine hugging Aeryn, or comforting her without immediate risk of life or limb, so I can't call her one.

I mean, isn't the appeal of a woobie that traditionally, the male character is supposed to be all strong and powerful, and here is one that just needs a hug? Whereas the female character is traditionally weak, and the appeal is for her to be kickass? Fun with gender roles, it is.

Cass I can see as a female woobie, for sure. She is both kickass and damaged at once. Poor dear, indeed.
Can I be Aeryn's woobie? I need a cuddle form a hot chick that shoots things.
Well, I can't promise she'll quite get the concept, but you can certainly try...
