"When I look at people that I would like to feel have been a mentor or an inspiring kind of archetype of what I'd love to see my career eventually be mentioned as a footnote for in the same paragraph, it would be, like, Bowie." ~Trent Reznor

Right, though I don't want to give the impression that I was making the point from my own cogitation--it's from American McGee's video game, which the film's to be based on. The plot goes that Wonderland is all in Alice's mind and she's returned there because she's in a mental hospital and is trying to escape the real world subconsciously. Because she is somewhat insane, Wonderland has become very twisted and she has to fight her way out to some extent. The Cheshire Cat, for example: [link] This was an excellent/creepyashell game.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Aww... cute kitty!

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

See, I thought that the new movie was going to be based on the book--other than Hoyle's computerized card and board games, I haven't played a video game since Centipede. I think.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I haven't played a video game since Centipede.

I was talking to a guy who works in the video game industry, and mentioned that if it wasn't Tetris or Centipede, I wasn't playing. He said that people always mention Centipede, and he wasn't sure why. Dude! Poisoned mushrooms! What's not to love?

Centipede rocked in the mall arcade--spin that roller ball just right, and you've got the game nailed.

In other movie news: Possibility of a movie about Jeff Buckley?

Am I the only one who could really see James Franco playing Jeff? Seriously, resemblence.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

That'd work. I'd rather see a movie about his dad Tim Buckley, though, I think.

The basic idea calls from Tim to appear in flashbacks, though that's clearly not what you were looking for.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Okay, I know the first film was grossly ahistorical, but...wibble:

Cate Blanchett is to reprise her role as the Virgin Queen in a $47 million sequel to the 1998 film Elizabeth.

The film, Elizabeth: The Golden Age, will detail the Tudor monarch's tempestuous relationship with Sir Walter Raleigh and suggest Elizabeth was infatuated with the courtier and adventurer.

Clive Owen, the brooding star of Closer and Sin City, is to play Sir Walter Raleigh.
