I am so bummed that the Buffistas are not all fantastically wealthy.
Because obviously we'd spend the summer playing Zeppelin Polo over the Bahamas.
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

I actually think John Travolta is about as weird as Tom Cruise, overall. I just don't think the zeppelin-buying data point is one of the ones that pushes in that direction.
However, I don't think this is particularly normative movie star behavior.
Well, first off, I've never found "movie star" and "normative" to spend a whole lot of time together. Secondly, movie star+aviation buff = any damn cool airship you want. He has a jet and a helicopter too, doesn't he?
As for Mel, I still can't reconcile the reactionary, fundamentalist freakazoid with the Three Stooges loving goofball. But compared to Tom and Michael, it's just not that weird to me, merely annoying.
Admittedly, the Zepplin buyer is also a space clam overlord worshiper, but comparing one to the other....
Oh, good point.
So I guess the real question is, is it weirder to (a) buy a zeppelin or (b) proclaim your love for Katie Holmes on Oprah in a scarifyingly enthusiastic manner?
Val is whacked. OUT., to be sure, but not in the space-clam-worshiping way. I don't think.
Val's a Christian Scientist -- the only medicine you need is a good prayer session -- but as wacky Christian cults go, the Christian Scientists are okay -- they are capable of objective literature review and support reading and literacy. Val's a jerk, but that's another subject.
Has the Mirrormask trailer on Yahoo been linked yet?
Has the Mirrormask trailer on Yahoo been linked yet?
Yes.
I keep getting a "The proxy experienced an error" message while trying to watch the Mirrormask trailer. Pout.

No, I think the comparable (b) point for Travolta was BATTLEFIELD EARTH. That said, he hasn't seemed to be much of a spokesperson since then.
I'd put Michael and Tom 1 and 2. Michael's repeated surgery tips the scale for me.
Mel isn't that close. I mean,
reactionary, fundamentalist freakazoid
isn't that rare.
