A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Hee. We were all "Yay, cablecars! I hope the city got some money from this."
I was so confused for a moment, since I intend to see this movie, but I haven't picked out the parts I really liked yet.
Sorry, Alibelle. Askye is an Ali in real life.
No, it's fine. I figured as much.
Did I mention that I finally saw "Finding Neverland?" And it was totally awesome? So pretty. So very pretty. And all movies should star Kate Winslet and Johnny Depp. I've decided.

Works for me.
I don't think I've ever seen KW act better. Seriously. not a titanic fan, though, and "Spotless Mind" gave brain-injured me an unintended by the film-makers wiggins.
I watched Closer last night, and am now completely in love (and/or lust) with Natalie Portman.
I really think that Kate Winslet is the one to replace Meryl Streep and Susan Sarandon on the Go-To Serious Actress list for the next decade or two. Take a look at her IMDB list--she's got five or six projects either just finished or in the works. She's got classically beautiful features, that peaches and cream English complexion, and a real sense of confidence in her abilities that shines on the screen, no matter what role she's playing. Peter Jackson done good in giving her her first film, althought I'm sure someone else would have cast her in a movie role if PJ hadn't.
She furthermore has unbelievably good instincts in picking movies -- I've never read a review of her giving a bad performance, and I don't think she's chosen any appalling stinkers.
