Season 8 was a hot mess, but I hear Season 9 has been an improvement.
'Hell Bound'
Buffy and Angel 1: BUFFYNANGLE4EVA!!!!!1!
Is it better the second time around? Or the third? Or tenth? This is the place to come when you have a burning desire to talk about an old episode that was just re-run.
That cult of faceless midgets was disturbing, you have to admit.
I liked some of it, but it lost steam in the middle and the climax was...yeah.
I don't know whose idea the zeppelins was.
To me, the format seems too short to work as a collection of monster-of-the-week storylines. Condensing 40 minutes of plot into 22 pages is pretty impossible without either a lot of simplification or a retooling of narrative development.
Is it worth just skipping altogether?
They generally do multi-month story arcs, with about an episode's worth of content in each arc. I liked it at first, but it definitely dragged towards the middle.
It's not a collection of monster-of-the-week storylines. It follows the ramifications of the finale, and most stories are told over multiple issues. There are some good one-shots, too.
And I've never read it, so ignore all my remarks as being snarky.
I'll give it a try, purely because I can't perceive a future without new Buffy.
I followed through most of the Season 8 series, and afterwards thought I probably should have left well enough alone with "Chosen" as the final chapter in Buffy's saga.
