I have watched things with him. He is pretty reactive. It was pretty amazing to see his reaction to FLCL, not having a clue what it was about.
I'm sure he exaggerates in his reviews because it's fun, but I don't doubt his sincerity in general.
Is it better the second time around? Or the third? Or tenth? This is the place to come when you have a burning desire to talk about an old episode that was just re-run.

What's FLCL?
I'm sufficiently jaded and cynical that I'd pretty much rather think it was a persona than it's all sincere. At least, not for this long. I'm dirty inside, and I just can't keep up with that level of continual surprise.
However, as I'm not reading him, it's no big deal to me either way.
What's FLCL?
It's an anime.
And it stands for...
Spoilers!
Heh.
It's pronounced "Fooly Cooly," which is a term for fondling. But, yes, what it actually stands for would be a spoiler.
FLCL is basically a show where robots grow out of people's heads and then the housemaid fights them with a bass guitar.
(Mark did not know this, and it sure was fun to watch his mouth hang agape the first time a robot came out of Naota's head.)
Has Mark seen Urotsukidoji-Legend of The Overfiend? I would pay folding money to watch his reaction to that one.
You'd probably need to pay it directly to his therapist afterward.
Passion is today.

S3, S4, S5, S6, and S7 had some of the most ground-breaking, controversial and envelope pushing episodes in tv history.
In TV history. And this person thinks Mark seems naïve?
