Tact is just not saying true stuff. I'll pass.

Cordelia ,'Dirty Girls'

Buffy and Angel 1: BUFFYNANGLE4EVA!!!!!1!

Is it better the second time around? Or the third? Or tenth? This is the place to come when you have a burning desire to talk about an old episode that was just re-run.

Thrive to spite them

I read the review, I'm starting to get bored with his hang ups about Xander, it feels like he's got personal issues he's projecting on to Xander. Or something.

As for Dru.

I'd never read Mark WAtches/Read before this. I'm not sure if he's ever dealt with characters that were not sane. I get that he doesn't like the word crazy nor does he want to use it. From what people have said here, saying someone is insane is okay, or at least acknowledging they are mentally ill is okay.

However, there's a big difference between not using a word you think is a slur and ignoring a huge aspect of a character.

It's going to feel really insulting if he's flat out refused to acknowledge her mental state.

But I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say that maybe he's not sure exactly how much of a role Dru is going to play. Maybe he thinks she's just going to be Spike's "strange and awkward" girlfriend who is also weak and "helpless". She did turn whatshername in School Hard and tried to eat a kid in Lie To Me, but she hasn't been really threatening other than that and has just been in the "girlfriend" role.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

He is so completely and utterly unprepared for Jenny's death.

Yeah, he really doesn't have a clue how much more Joss will make Giles suffer and Buffy as well.

I completely agree.

Willow’s beautiful freak out on Cordelia and Xander and her demanding they leave HER library is everything that is right with the world.

This really is a wonderful Willow moment.

Also, did anyone else catch a whiff of chemistry when Xander and Cordelia fought? Whoa, that was a weird feeling.

Ha!

Also, where is Ethan? OMG IS HE GOING TO COME BACK.

I know it's a long way off, but I keep wondering what he is going to think of Band Candy.

How much is Buffy’s allowance that she could save up for tattoo removal in 1997??? THAT SHIT WAS EXPENSIVE BACK THEN.

The real question for me in this episode is why the hell isn't Giles paying for the tattoo removal?

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Yeah, he really doesn't have a clue how much more Joss will make Giles suffer and Buffy as well.

I didn't really realize until now what a genius move it is on Whedon's part.

"Oh, Giles and Jenny are so cute! I hope nothing happens to them!"
"Mwahahaha, I will KILL JENNY RIGHT NOW!"
"Noooooo, you wouldn't!"
"Okay, you're right, I wouldn't."
"Whew."
.
.
.
"SUCKERS!!!!!!"

All is well that ends in pizza.

Passion will kill him dead. I know it did kill me. I'm a ghost, can't you tell?

issues with Xander

I don't think he knows how to deal with feeling sympathy for a guy who (apparently) has so many characteristics that he hates.

edit: So looking forward to "Zeppo"

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Was anyone else kind of grossed out by the demon thinking so poorly of Giles respecting Jenny’s consent?

He gets demons, right? And evil? He's at least read about evil?

I didn't know what to make of that either.

He has the most curious expectations of humanity. His idealism is sweet, but odd.

I wonder how he's going to take Warren.

Actually I always did have an issue with the whole Spike is good because he has a soul issue with Warren being a normal human doing his horrible stuff. But then, I wanted to see something more complex, like Spike deciding to do evil because he had a choice.

Spike wasn't good because he had a soul, was he? I mean, he wasn't driven to be evil, but I see that as different. He could have been evil with a soul, but he got the soul so he didn't have to be evil anymore.

And he was kinda not-as-evil there at the end. It was more of an exercise of will to stay on the straight and narrow, and his will was just not up to it (ergo Seeing Red, etc).
