Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.
I never cared that much. It didn't make any difference to the story if Cecily was Halfrek or not; Spike's origin would play out the same way.
I did think it was amusing that the torrid spurned love that set off the Terrible Saga of William the Bloody might have been, from her POV, just a minor nuisance in the work of Vengeance.

"Whit approached us with an exciting idea about how to update Buffy," said Roven. "There is an active fan base eagerly awaiting this character's return to the big screen. We're thrilled to team up with Doug and Roy on a re-imagining of Buffy and the world she inhabits. There is no chance in the world they will do anything that will improve on the original.
Oh well. The Airbender movie came out and didn't ruin my love of the original animated Avatar: TLA.

They really need to give it another decade or so before cracking open the remake vault. Particularly since Joss has been continuing the TV storyline in comics that I'm sure the vast majority of the active fan base is aware of.

This is impossible. Do these people honestly not know anything about the 'active fan base?'
Meaning no disrespect at all, but I can imagine a few members of that active fan base actually doing violence in protest of a non-Joss Buffy project.
It's true that nothing IS sacred, but I just don't see the economic upside of this choice.
