I really can't believe that. I like Nick, but he doesn't have the chops or the, I think presence is the word I want, to carry the role of Mal.
Especially given the "now" picture they used-- he bore an eerie resemblance to Jack Nicholson's Joker, sans makeup. Which really... not such a compliment.

That seems like fanon, to me. Buffy was still on the air when Firefly premiered, and Xander had already become a nearly secondary (tertiary) character. Maybe Joss said he wanted Mal to be a Xander-type who was damaged by the war, or something.
I wouldn't count on that article for facts since it says Fillion went from Buffy to Firefly. Wasn't he in Firefly first?

I must confess that while I find the show funny, her relationship to super-stalker who has moved in really creeps me out. Does anyone feel the same way?

I hadn't heard of the show before now, but watched the first few and had to quit. Too creepy, not enough funny.
I haven't started season 2 of The Guild yet but I'm surprised she's still putting up with the stalker. I hope it makes sense in context.
