Joss has pushed them for me a few times.
See also,
A Hole in the World. Where he was pushing them like someone frantically trying to get a crosswalk signal to switch over to walk already. I blame comic books for this reaction. Although I have to say,
in Veronica Mars S1's finale
I almost laughed myself sick when they stuck her in AN ACTUAL FRIDGE WHERE SHE HAD TO BE RESCUED, which I'm pretty certain wasn't intended to make me think of what it did. But oh, man. That was comedy gold.
You are right about
it not feeling earned, perhaps needing another act. Oh and also about NPH making a wonderful Judas.
Okay, I better get to bed so I can wake when the monkey boy gets up.
Damn but the "streaming" sucks. I'm a little WTF, but since I can't really watch it without tearing my hair out it's moot.
All told, it was all worth it for the NPH.
I wish I could claim my NPH affection dates back to Doogie, but sadly, it's just to Starship Troopers, but I must say, he's one of those actors where I'm THRILLED when other people notice that he's made of 100% awesomecakes.
O Hai, I'll just watch part II on repeat and pretend that part III never happened, OK?
He did it again. I'm totally with the "you're telling it wrong!" feeling from The Princess Bride, mixed with the feeling of seeing Anya with a sword stucked in her after the singing flashback in "Selfless".
This was written after watching part III for the first time. I'm now gonna do it again (heh, I typoed "not" instead of "now"). Wish me luck.
Edit to add that NPH rulez111!.
I am with Vonnie and Plei. I am also on Plei regarding
Dr. Horrible post-Freeze Ray. That was the first time I really bought him as a villain. And I'd just seen The Dark Knight, so I was in full-on villain mode.
I almost feel like
the end of Act III detracts from the enjoyability of the first two acts, which is really annoying and sad.
It felt like
they tried really hard to get me to say, "Well... I didn't see that coming." But I did say it. I
was
hoping
Bad Horse would turn out to be an actual horse so that was my happy ending, I guess.
Overall I did love it. And I feel a little naive now for not expecting a
punch in the gut
of some sort.
oh and dibs on, "
It's not enough to bash in heads; you have to bash in minds.
"
I have this image in my mind of Nathan Fillion as Captain Hammer singing "Hard to be humble".
