It's my estimation that... every man ever got a statue made of him, was one kind of sumbitch or another.

Buffy and Angel 1: BUFFYNANGLE4EVA!!!!!1!

Is it better the second time around? Or the third? Or tenth? This is the place to come when you have a burning desire to talk about an old episode that was just re-run.

Embrace the idea that we are the leaders we've been looking for. Grace Lee Boggs

For one thing, NB and CC are completely comfortable in their roles, while everyone else is still feeling it out a little bit, even SMG.

I don't remember this from earlier viewings, but it's very clear this time. Also, I suppose we should cut some slack for characters that were only supposed to be temporary, but it's jarring to see the difference.

"...and then Legolas and the Hulk destroy the entire Greek army." - Penny Arcade

And ASH's British gets stiffer from time to time with no discernible reason.

Huh. In a writing way or an acting way?

I finally realized who Early!Angel reminds me of. The weaselly bartender. I can't remember his name, but the actor ended up on Becker. Although, of course, Angel is much, MUCH, cuter.

eta: Saverio Guerra, who is actually not all that bad looking when not playing a weasel.

Because books.

In a writing way or an acting way?

In an acting way.

Like those last lines, which I love anyway, but he's suddenly so stiffly British again.

Also, what was his line about people forgetting what they don't understand or don't want to see...? (Yes, my brain is a sieve.)

It's another great setup for the series as a whole, especially as pertaining to high school. Cordelia forgot all about the coolness Buffy exhibited with one act of random strangeness (last ep), and there are no parents present at all except for Joyce, who clearly doesn't "see" what's going on with her daughter. So many perfect metaphors for growing up/high school right there.

Art Crawl!!!

Oh, everyone has pretty much said what I would have said. (Shocking how young Giles and Joyce look.)

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Rewatching is fun. Rewatching and posting with Buffistas about it is fantastic.

Are we going to do the CW thing on the 17th?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Are we going to do the CW thing on the 17th?

You know, that'd be fun. A bit redundant, but when did that stop us? And it'd be cool to see old ads and/or promos.
