'Objects In Space'

Boxed Set, Vol. II: "It's a Cookbook...A Cookbook!!"

A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

From waaaaaaaaaay back:

As for starting with the first one, those are very limited, due to the BBC's old policy of getting rid of entire episodes to make room in the storage facility back in the 1960s/70s. Even though I consider myself a big Who fan, I've never seen any William Hartnell (#1) or Patrick Troughton (#2), outside of the reunion eps.

The original film for these eps are still in the archives, and most of them were restored in 2005 (and put on Digibeta). No idea if there are plans to release them on DVD any time soon, but they're definitely not missing or destroyed.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Hands up everybody who prefers Tegan to Sarah Jane Smith.

There have been Companions named Tegan and Sarah?

I am amused.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Doctor Who missing episodes

Many episodes of the long-running British science fiction television programme Doctor Who are missing, with no known film or videotape copies existing. They were erased (or "junked") by the BBC during the 1960s and 1970s for a variety of commercial and space-saving reasons. In all, 108 of 253 episodes produced during the first six years of the programme are not currently held in the BBC's archives, although the situation was much worse in the past before episodes were recovered from a variety of sources.

Ah. I didn't go through all of them (way too many!), any my random spot-checks all turned up positive -- I must have just been lucky.

Y'all have moved on to Dr. Who, but I'm still bouncing over New Robin Hood! Eeeeee!

I wonder if it'll be good? I'll watch it regardless, I must admit.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

The new Robin Hood makes me mostly feel sad about Robin of Sherwood. I may squee more closer to the time.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

Why, why, WHY are there only 5 Third Doctor episodes on DVD? *weeps*.

I heard that "Inferno," the alternate-Earth ep with the 3rd Doctor and Liz, and creepy Mirror!Brigadier, is coming out on DVD later this year in the UK and possibly here as well.

It's my favorite Pertwee-era ep, so I'm definitely looking forward to it!

That sounds sensible, although I admit that, after rewatching some Robin of Sherwood, it doesn't hold up that well anymore. Red filters everywhere!

I still love Ray Winstone, though.

I think I noticed the red filters at the time. Haven't rewatched, though. RoS was the first show that got me thinking so hard about it when it wasn't on. I'd have been neck-deep in the fandom if I'd known how to find it. I need to buy those DVDs.

I only remember the second Robin, and I think everyone preferred the first one. Nothing holds a candle to Maid Marion and her Merry Men though, of course.
