As for starting with the first one, those are very limited, due to the BBC's old policy of getting rid of entire episodes to make room in the storage facility back in the 1960s/70s. Even though I consider myself a big Who fan, I've never seen any William Hartnell (#1) or Patrick Troughton (#2), outside of the reunion eps.
The original film for these eps are still in the archives, and most of them were restored in 2005 (and put on Digibeta). No idea if there are plans to release them on DVD any time soon, but they're definitely not missing or destroyed.

In all, 108 of 253 episodes produced during the first six years of the programme are not currently held in the BBC's archives, although the situation was much worse in the past before episodes were recovered from a variety of sources.

I heard that "Inferno," the alternate-Earth ep with the 3rd Doctor and Liz, and creepy Mirror!Brigadier, is coming out on DVD later this year in the UK and possibly here as well.
It's my favorite Pertwee-era ep, so I'm definitely looking forward to it!
