The Cylons back then were actually the same as the Cylons from the 1978 tv series (we see them in a museum display on the Galactica in the miniseries (Galactica was slated to be decomissioned and turned into a museum when the attack happened. That's why the one flight pod isn't being used)).
So the Cylons back then could have taken a punch? No wonder they ended up in a museum.
One interesting comparison between the Star Trek and BSG 'verses - in three of the Star Trek series', the Enterprise was the flagship of the fleet. The Galactica was the opposite.
I don't understand the distinction. What is it, then? How is it different from a flagship?
