ita, if they are ceramic they shouldn't be too bad. The kitchen and bath in our old house had them and they were a breeze to clean (keep in mind.. 2 small kids plus 2 dogs, a cat and 5 neighbor kids at any given time)

Humm... ceramic is the default for bathroom, but mom has red tile in her kitchen and has to have special cleaner for it (it wasn't sealed properly though). Home Depot or Lowes have what she uses. Lemme know if you want me to get the brand name.

I've never lived in a place without a tub and an oven, but my first NYC studio only had a half-fridge.
I lived in a "junior one bedroom" in DC - bigger than a studio, but the bedroom is more of an alcove than a real room - that had no tub. No oven either, just a range top and a mini fridge.
Montreal uses a numerical system for apartments - a 1 1/2 would be an efficiency (1 room plus bathroom), a 2 1/2 would be like a studio, and you had to get to 3 1/2 before it really counts as a one bedroom.

At first blush, this feels like it might snag the swiffer wet, but that's certainly what I'm going to start with.
Brenda -- I was wondering about that numbering system. As a poor student, it never came up, but what happens when you have more than one bathroom? Or a half bath?
