"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

Except I thought I read somewhere that Jeb Bush is trying to persuade the FL state legislature to intervene.

I read that too.

On the other hand, reading various excerpts from the judges' decisions is making me huge fans of theirs. Like that part of the system, at least, is working.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Bob Barr?

Maybe they really have started to overstep their bounds. Bob's no "moderate republican," he's card-carrying lunatic fringe.

I bow to no one in my dislike of Bob Barr, whom I have cordially despised since he was the state attorney general. He has, however, been opposed to the Patriot Act since the beginning. I was startled to find that he actually was a conservative. I did get a bit dizzy contemplating that I was agreeing with Bob Barr. I suspect it's a sign of the apocolypse.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Apparantly, many judges still think that separation of powers is a good thing.

If I only had a brain...

separation of powers is a good thing.

But... but... what if there's a WRONG DECISION?

Oh, in that case, Jesus wants Congress and the President to fix things. Can't have those activist judges basing their decisions on the rule of law....

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

Stephen Colbert cracked me up last night.

"Separation...and POWER!"
"Uh, Stephen, don't you mean 'separation of powers'?"
"Jon...oh, Jon." t shakes head in a "You're such an innocent..." way

Thrive to spite them

I don't think the FL legislature is going to do anything. The first attempt to pass the law was over turned immediately as being unconstitutional (that was last year), this year's attempt didn't get enough votes. It doesn't look like anyone is going to change their vote because anything that's passed will probably be deemed unconstitutional as well.

Apart from sports, "my secret favorite thing on earth is ketchup. I will put ketchup on anything. But it has to be Heinz." - my husband, Michael Vartan

Tom, that was awesome. Thanks for sharing.

Of course, now I want to put artwork up in the major NY museums. Of course, I'm foiled by my lack of appropriate artwork to hang.

Cindy and Kristin are making me giggle.

Brenda is making me feel ignorant. I haven't the faintest clue who Bob Barr is, or of when they started rolling back the powers of the patriot act.

Yes, this.

I just coverted someone to fitday like a spaz.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Oh don't worry, Alibelle, they haven't. Barr is a former congressman from Georgia, normally one of the craxies, but (as Ginger rightly points out) being a stand-up guy in this fight. They [his newly formed coalition] want to - get this - restore checks and balances.
