I have to say one more thing about the Terri Schaivo situation. In the Legistlative section of today's paper there was an article about the situation. At least two legislatures said that they considered changing their position that her feeding tube should be removed, that is until the protesters freaked them out.
they didn't take too kindly to seeing "Wanted" posters of themselves or being being yelled at. I understand the passion involved, but I wonder what the protesters will think when they read that.
There's a wonderfully written review of a new John Adams biography at the NY Times today. I think that if I was able to know the man personally, I would have thought him a real PITA and impossible to like, but he's probably my favorite historical figure of all time. Love this description of him:
Adams was a diplomat with no diplomatic skills, a politician incapable of playing politics. He was indeed a party of one. Yet in the end it's impossible not to feel something like reverence and yes, even affection, for this awkward, off-putting, impossible and thoroughly principled man.
Birthday happies to Raquel and Kathy!!!!!!!
I understand the passion involved, but I wonder what the protesters will think when they read that.
That's exactly the part that I don't understand, passion over a decision made by a guy who's the one, not only according to his marital status but also affirmed by the state courts several times over, who has the understanding and the right. These protesters have never seen, met, much less spent time with this person, but suddenly they're holding vigils and protesting? They're just as sick and sad as DeLay and the rest.
DEAR KRISTIN,
please to spoiler font your conversations with M*rch. I do not want to know about the we*ther.
okthxbye
Arrrgh. I'm working on the final version of a paper I already handed in a draft of, so I feel like I'm doing the damn thing twice, and I just remembered that the two papers in this class TOGETHER count for 15%, and now I'm worried I didn't do well enough on the midterm last week, which is
40%.
Arrrrgh.
The 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals says, 10-2, it won't reconsider the 2-1 decision by a panel of the court to leave the existing Schiavo decision (remove the tube) alone.
It is now the Supreme Court or nothing.
