You got all kinds of learnin' and you made me look the fool without tryin', and yet here I am with a gun to your head. That's 'cause I got people with me. People who trust each other, who do for each other, and ain't always lookin' for the advantage.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

It's probably no coincidence that the baby in the recent Texas case was black.

None. None at all.

If I only had a brain...

Huh. Prince Rrainier is on a respirator

I wonder if this will mean Albert finally has to get a beard married?

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

It's probably no coincidence that the baby in the recent Texas case was black.

I suspect that in terms of the system, it's more of an economic issue than a racial one. Neither of which is a good thing.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

What I don't get is, ok, she had 10 days to find another facility to put the baby. How could other hospitals turn her away? Her baby needed that ventilator - it was a matter of life or death - how could they legally turn her and her son away?

Those other hospitals agreed with the first one that further treatment was pointless. I don't think the race issue is really relevant, although I suspect the economics come into play.

They don't have to provide futile care if the person wanting it can't pay for it.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Well, I think the race issue points more towards the lack of media attention, myself.

Could she have paid for it? I haven't seen either way.

I agree. Here's this white woman, who - let's not forget - brought her current situation on herself - has all these groups fighting for her and praying for her to continue "living". Yet, I have yet to find reporting of any groups fighting to keep this 5 month old boy alive.
