I battle evil. But I don't really win. The bad keeps coming back and getting stronger. Like that kid in the story, the boy that stuck his finger in the duck.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Citi's been good to me too, I just cashed in some points for a $100 gift card for Bed Bath & Beyond.

Hopefully on saturday we will be the proud owners of a Kitchen Aid mixer!

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

We put most of our major purchases on a Value Miles Platinum Visa® Card, and end up with about one free flight per year. Redeeming them is kind of a PITA, but we can use miles on any major airline. (No idea how they specifically define "major," but we have yet to be turned down.)

[eta: We've also got a Discover, which gives cash back, which we always just put towards the balance. And I have a Chase iCard which gives cash back in the form of Webcertificates.]

Ann, that's a ferret.

ita, the only thing I have to add is that cash-back doesn't help much if you don't use the card too often. Discover was my primary card back when it was strictly cash-back, and only once was the reward more than enough for lunch for 2 at a decent deli.

Can we talk about cats?

I'm waiting for the vet to call me with results of a needle biopsy.

It's raining madly here. The falls are quite high and the waterfall is back and all churny.

I need to get Citibank to add the rewards stuff to my card. I keep getting offers, but I am sooo lazy. I also need to have another photo submitted to put on it. The current picture is from when I was barely 20.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

I came into work today to see a very pretty vase with very pretty spring flowers in it from my mother--thanks, Mom, and I'm sorry I kept you awake into the wee hours of the morning 39 years ago. She also sent me a pretty card with a guilt-trip letter due to some issues we've been having, so that mitigates the pretty a bit.

Now, I'm feeling ancient, and desperately need to dye the grey hairs on my head before Easter.

Happy Birthday, Raquel! And congrats on the new arrival!

Oh, and shrift's boss sucks in the worst of ways.

That is all.

"Being hungover is like winning the lottery, except they pay you in regret!" - T-Rex

I've found with most of the rewards programs, if you work out the value of the points you're accumulating, it comes to be worth about the same as the money you'd get back with the average cashback program, and with the rewards programs you're limited in what you can spend them on.

Kathy, is it your birthday?

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Happy Kathy day!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I want a card on which I'll put any large amounts and pay off that month. My low APR card does not have to be the same one as the rewards. In fact, the one I'll probably never let go is the one that intermittently offers 0% APR on balance transfers. I never buy anything on it, since the purchase APR is insanely high, but it's a nice place to tuck balances for a couple months.

I like the idea of Value Miles -- tempting, tempting.

We're having odd internet issues here at work. We can't get on IM, can't send emails, can't access any websites...other than this one.

That's fate's way of telling me I'm not supposed to work today, right?
