Can you write back asking to clarify whether, as it is both a paid holiday and a work day, you will be paid for both the working and the holiday?
You should get the paid holiday, plus time and a half for the time you actually spend at work. The paid holiday counts as part of a 40 hour work week.
I have a financial question (the answer to shrift's financial issue is GET PAID) -- I'm looking to cancel one of my credit cards and get one with rewards. I'm assuming some rewards programs suck, and some rock. So even before I decide what sort of rewards I want -- I'm interested in knowing about other people's experiences.
Anyone out there?
I ended up with Citi rewards card by accident, and when I figured it all out, I had enough points to get a Gameboy with a bunch left over, so that was fun. But I really didn't set out to do any of this, so it's all been gravy.
BigBoss sent out an e-mail saying that we're to treat Friday like a normal work day, even though it's a paid holiday.
The fuck?
ita, we have a card that accumulates points that translate into cash, and we have a Discover card that lets you translate rewards into gift cards and the like. Discover is nice, because some options actually let you increase your money ($25 gets you a $30 Borders card), but the available merchants are kind of limited.
I don't care so much about the rewards, just the low APR.
Citi's been good to me too, I just cashed in some points for a $100 gift card for Bed Bath & Beyond.
Hopefully on saturday we will be the proud owners of a Kitchen Aid mixer!
We put most of our major purchases on a Value Miles Platinum Visa® Card, and end up with about one free flight per year. Redeeming them is kind of a PITA, but we can use miles on any major airline. (No idea how they specifically define "major," but we have yet to be turned down.)
[eta: We've also got a Discover, which gives cash back, which we always just put towards the balance. And I have a Chase iCard which gives cash back in the form of Webcertificates.]
ita, the only thing I have to add is that cash-back doesn't help much if you don't use the card too often. Discover was my primary card back when it was strictly cash-back, and only once was the reward more than enough for lunch for 2 at a decent deli.
Can we talk about cats?
I'm waiting for the vet to call me with results of a needle biopsy.

It's raining madly here. The falls are quite high and the waterfall is back and all churny.
I need to get Citibank to add the rewards stuff to my card. I keep getting offers, but I am sooo lazy. I also need to have another photo submitted to put on it. The current picture is from when I was barely 20.
