We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

My department is mostly jeans and khakis (only the older ladies wear dress pants on a regular basis). The rare occasions when we have an outside vendor and/or potential client come in to check out the operation, I might wear dress pants instead.

Oh, and for some great musicals in Chicago news, according to the Chicago Tribune, Wicked is staying at the Oriental Theatre for months, if not years, instead of the original 7-week engagement. When the touring company leaves, the set is remaining behind and a Chicago-based company will stay. "'Wicked' will remain open in the Loop as long as there is business to support it."

Never before in contemporary Chicago has a touring cast been replaced after a period of a few weeks by a whole new slate of local performers, who then get open-ended Broadway-rank contracts without having to leave the Loop or their homes. And if "Wicked" can last two years, it will set modern Chicago-theater history.

I have to sit through an online training session. Argh.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

The good part about a home office: I'm wearing sweat pants, a sweat shirt and no shoes.

The bad part: No massages. No doughnuts. And the cleaning staff sucks.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I still haven't come to terms with the fact that I don't dress up for work anymore. I don't have nearly enough clothes to wear casual every day. Luckily, I don't usually see the same people every day.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

I actually prefer wearing suits and stuff, not sure why, but in jeans I don;t want to be at work, I want to be out doing my stuff. ok, that's most days anyway, but moreso in jeans.

Me too.

I would wear these if I could find sets that actually fit both top and bottom (and are relatively cheap). Inevitably if the top fits, the bottoms are too small and vice versa.

Don’t’ know what you consider cheap, but I’m a big fan of Jones New York. Their suits are separates, which is good for my weird body, and the styles are very classic. I still own my first JNY suit that I bought after college. A jacket and a bottom would run about $300, but if you hit Macy’s at the right time, you can do much better. They also do great plus sizes.

My office doesn’t really have a “dress code” per se, but I tend to wear suits. It’s academia, which is a bit more casual, but also administration. I take my cue from my boss, who almost always wears a suit or jacket and tie. If I don’t have meetings on Friday, I may dress down a little (and by that I mean a sweater instead of a jacket, or a more casual pant or skirt.)

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Wicked good news! Maybe I'll actually get to see it. Even better, maybe I'll know people in it.

Perkins is currently on her way to Ohio with a replenished supply of tamarind balls. She's probably halfway across Indiana by now.
