Bestest xpost is to edit to say hi to Nilly while she edits to say hi to me! I'm all smiley now.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Bestest x-post is me seeing your edit and wanting to type that x-posting "hi"s is the best x-post, and coming to your post saying the same thing.
I wish I had time to join the ongoing discussion, which seems really interesting. Sigh. Maybe I'll actually catch up, though. I hadn't done even that in a while.
Thank you for pitying my slowness.
Hey, Nilly!
I just googled "center cannot hold" because I couldn't work out why I was associating it with Chinua Achebe. That question is now answered but not before the coincidence that victor's name pops up in the blurb of the second google hit!
Awwww, it sounds cute, adorable, and wonderful. Awwwww. I'm feeling warm and fuzzy and now contemplating reproduction myself.
Mallory James...
Welcome to Mallory James, and congratulations to Raquel and DH. Wonderful news to start the day.
Oh, ita!
I was just talking to a friend who finished a PhD here, and for some reason the conversation went to "why wouldn't anyone make tv shows about physicists?", and from there it was a short way for him to start casting the other students around here (meaning, who would play them in a tv show/movie). So it was all fun and games, and then he said that I should pick who would play me. Of course, I had no idea. So who did he pick? Halle Berry.
I wanted to shout "no! ita would never talk to me again!", but I didn't get to explain the whole not-so-invisible-friend-from-the-internet thing. Right then a student I TA came into the room with a question and I had to actually work and stuff.
[Edited to wave to JenP]
Nilly, if I dissociate enough, I can see that Halle Berry is a compliment. However, you must thrash this man to within an inch of his life, or just explain the invisible friend thing -- whichever you're more comfortable with.
Ah, Buffista Conversation #27 --
College with kids my age was definitely really important socially, but I'm not sure it balances out the bad aspects of high school.
I'm in the same category. When I was in grade school, the district wanted to skip me a grade or two. My parents said no -- I was already one of the youngest and smallest kids in my class, and they were worried that I wouldn't fit in socially with the older kids.
I also had almost enough credits to graduate at the end of junior year in high school. If I'd been willing to take a unit of P.E. in summer school, I'd have been able to start college a year early.
In college, I found a small niche and clung to it. It wasn't until grad school/law school that I really blossomed socially.
Thank you for pitying my slowness
I shall not pity. I will encourage you to read the excellent FAQ, How-To, and Etiquette links as they are not only informative, but entertaining.
I would watch a television series focused on physicists if Nilly were featured. Take the Halle Berry suggestion as a compliment. Many folk find her adorable. (just wronger than a thing that is wrong for Catwoman)
