Oh, Debet, what a wonderful opportunity to go to England! I hope it's fun for you!
I'm working hard on this consciousness thing this AM. I want to take my car over to get inspected (only three months late) and still pissed that I stepped on my glasses. At least it's in the 40s today -- that's something, anyway.
Don't hit things! (with the car, I mean. You know, with the stepping on the glasses, and...yeah)
40s are great. I realised winter had really and truly sunk in when my body started reading above freezing as "warm". Now we've been bouncing back and forth and it's throwing my thermostat off. Stupid March. Be Spring!
I'm really excited about the trip. And she hasn't been taken to see everything 20 bazillion times, yet, so I can go pretty much anywhere (2-year-old friendly) I want!
I stepped on my glasses as I was going up the stairs in the dark, and broke them. :-( (And it's my fault, too, since I left them on the stairs in the first place. I'm more tired than I thought....)
Oh, no. Did the glass smash, or did you just break the frames?

Hee. I hate the car inspection. It seems fewer service stations do it, than ever before, and half the time, their emissions testing equipment is down, so even those few stations aren't doing it. They no longer allow you to remain in the car, which might not seem like a big deal, but it is when you have little kids in tow, and the station is on a corner lot on busy streets, and the lot is the size of a postage stamp. They seem stingy re the hours they'll perform inspections, and there's always a line. Feh. Between that and all the snow that just won't go away (here at least, we still have a good foot of pack in the yard), I can completely see how you're three months late doing this.
Oh, Debet, I didn't realize you were still up. I am envious of your opportunity (even with the two year old). I hope you get some time for yourself too, though. How long is your trip?
2 weeks. I should be getting some evenings and weekends. I'm debating how far afield I want to try to go.
Theo, you stepped on your glasses? That's no fun! Are they still wearable?
No, something's sprung in the frame, and there's a bizarre chip in one of the lenses. I fear they're unsalvageable.
Luckily, I've hung on to my older, less comfortable glasses, so I can drive and stuff. My stronger eye is 20/60, so I'm okay for a lot of walking around, et cetera.
I left them sitting on a stair, which I never do. And then later I walked up the stairs without turning on the lights, which I also hardly ever do (we have cats who object to being stepped on). Stupid, stupid, stupid, but I'm just going to have to assign the cost to a Stupidity Tax and stop with the self-blaming.
Also, the optometrist/eyeglasses place is right across the street from work. Now I just have to get into work on time...
Timelies!
It's Monday
- David Bowie.
I have neglected to apply antiperspirant/deodorant. Sigh.
And my hair is sticking up.
At least I didn't step on my glasses.
