I had no shower. Side effect of eloping. A friend made some noise about organizing a girls night out, but it hasn't seemed to happen. I find that if I don't organize stuff, in general, it doesn't get done. And I didn't/ don't want a shower enough to do it myself, and since it was an elopement, folks assume I don't want one. Or they don't care/give it a thought.
I would LOVE to throw you a shower. You get me a list of names and e-mail addresses, we'll work out a date, and it's done.
I woke up this morning to see this outside my window.
At first I thought it was black and white. Cool photo.
No snow day for me
Please. They didn't even close schools here, and we've got 6 or 8" of the stuff.

Yeah, I've been surprised at how much is closed around here. Now, granted, I've only looked out the window; I haven't been out in the stuff yet. Normally I would have walked Toto by now, but apparently he's sleeping in. Poor guy had a rough night. Must still be sleepy. Actually, I should go check on him again.

Drat, forgot that vw was around! It puts a crimp in my self centered pissy snow Tuesday whining when there's someone here who is so sweet and awesome!
You made me smile though. In the interest in fair reporting, however, I just got my coffee.
Cereal to add: above, when I mentioned the whole "if I don't do stuff it doesn't get done" I was talking about my family and non-Buffista friends.
Buffistas organize! They have a mailing list!
God, now I am terrified that I am being passive aggressive all over Natter.
The Los Angeles Times reports today that Schwarzenegger's administration has circulated a videotape package masquerading as a news report on the governor's proposal to roll back labor regulations that require employers to give their employees half-hour lunch breaks within the first five hours of their shifts. Several California TV stations ran the report as news, offering their viewers a one-sided, government-financed view of Schwarzenegger's proposal.
The "masquerading as a news report" is worse because after the Armstrong Williams thing our government appears to be getting into the business of paid propaganda, instead of leaving it to the think tanks.
The second part is what's disturbing me the most. Bush has done this several times--sending out video "press releases" with "newscasters" sitting at a desk like regular news. The television stations that played them never bothered to note that they were NOT actual news.
This is actually ILLEGAL. But leave it to Bush to simply ignore the legalities in order to distribute the administration's message.
I think our town must have made the decision to close the schools based on the forecast. We have a decent amount of snow, but I know I kept my kids home in January, when the schools were open (possibly delayed) and the conditions were worse.
Scott is working from home. He said yesterday that his new boss said he knew everyone was sick and tired of it, and if they could work from home, to go ahead.
Does anyone have an electric griddle? If so, do you like it? Do you have any recommendations, etc.? I just have a smallish (10 to 12 inches, square) Calphalon griddle. It's higher in the middle than on the sides, and well...let's just say that this morning, I didn't bother to ask Tara's question of funny shapes or rounds.
Nora, are you all over your bug? How about Tom?

You SO are not! It's just, the thought hadn't occurred to me, and now it has. So, I'm in planning mode :)
Cindy, I don't have one--I make my pancakes in a large cast-iron skillet that belonged to my grandmother. But my dad used one to death when I was a kid. It made good 'cakes.
Also, this makes our breakfast of raspberries, bananas and bread & butter seem just...sad.
