Art Crawl!!!

ON J&B: I thought that the fact that she is the president's daughter kind swayed the healthworker's decision -- because didn't she promise confidentiality before she found out who Courtney was ?

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

On J&B: He said the doctor or nurse or whatever told him, which is a huuuuuuge no no. I would imagine the speculation that it was because it was the president's daughter, is correct. If something went wrong, it could affect the clinic's funding. Horribly horribly unethical though.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

J&B: So it is legal for a minor to seek medical assistance without guardians discovering? I'm a little surprised.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Angel St. James

That's a goodie.

I'd be Tinkerbell Greenfield.

Allyson, I think the idea isn't denying workers lunch, it's trying to get out of paying the worker for time spent on lunch break. Which is still cheesy and wrong in my book.

You in California get paid for the lunch break? We don't. Employers are required to allow a half-hour unpaid break for the employee to eat, but that's all.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Oh, catching up on J&B. Jesus, the disappointment that Marcus's dad shows and feels. And knowing that Marcus did it, leaving Jack behind to protect Jack. Way more heartbreaking than Grace and Tom.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

You in California get paid for the lunch break?

No, not generally. Though it was common in Boston when I worked there in the 80s.

I was thinking of non-hourly workers, Plei. Although yeah, now that I think of it, at several jobs that only gave me 1/2 for lunch, I was paid for it. If I wanted an hour, I wasn't paid for the second 1/2 hour.

Kat -- I don't find the Grace and Tom upsetting at all, because they were way too stupid to keep my sympathy.

ita what goes on between a doctor and his/her patient is confidential. I've not seen an exception. A parent could refuse to allow a doctor to treat their kid, but once they're there, the doctor (and I don't want to say can't but again it would be unethical if they did) can't share that information. I remember a girl in high school who wouldn't go to the doctor for a UTI because she was afraid her parents would think she'd had sex. She went to see their GP, who couldn't tell her parents what they'd discussed, but told her sex was not the only way to get a UTI. Exactly why you need that kind of discretion.
