J&B: At my university, the health center had signs up at every desk where you might possibly fill out a form or pay anything, saying that everything was confidential, but that, if you didn't want your parents to find out that you were at the health center, don't pay with their credit card and don't use their insurance. I think that, on the show, they said that they called because she was underage, but it seems to make more sense to me that he'd find out because she's on his insurance policy.

ON J&B: I thought that the fact that she is the president's daughter kind swayed the healthworker's decision -- because didn't she promise confidentiality before she found out who Courtney was ?
On J&B: He said the doctor or nurse or whatever told him, which is a huuuuuuge no no. I would imagine the speculation that it was because it was the president's daughter, is correct. If something went wrong, it could affect the clinic's funding. Horribly horribly unethical though.
J&B: So it is legal for a minor to seek medical assistance without guardians discovering? I'm a little surprised.

That's a goodie.
I'd be Tinkerbell Greenfield.
Allyson, I think the idea isn't denying workers lunch, it's trying to get out of paying the worker for time spent on lunch break. Which is still cheesy and wrong in my book.

You in California get paid for the lunch break? We don't. Employers are required to allow a half-hour unpaid break for the employee to eat, but that's all.
Oh, catching up on J&B. Jesus, the disappointment that Marcus's dad shows and feels. And knowing that Marcus did it, leaving Jack behind to protect Jack. Way more heartbreaking than Grace and Tom.

No, not generally. Though it was common in Boston when I worked there in the 80s.
I was thinking of non-hourly workers, Plei. Although yeah, now that I think of it, at several jobs that only gave me 1/2 for lunch, I was paid for it. If I wanted an hour, I wasn't paid for the second 1/2 hour.
Kat -- I don't find the Grace and Tom upsetting at all, because they were way too stupid to keep my sympathy.
